Tarangire Game Drive and Mto wa Mbu Cultural Experience

The cooler hours may provide opportunities to observe predators, elephants and plains animals while they are still active.
Explore another part of the park according to recent sightings and road conditions.
Later, leave Tarangire and travel toward Mto wa Mbu.
Mto wa Mbu lies near the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and is home to people from many of Tanzania’s ethnic and linguistic communities.
Meet a local guide and begin a community-based cultural experience.
Depending on time and local arrangements, the visit may include:
- Banana and rice farms

Journey to Lake Eyasi • Datoga Cultural Experience • Overnight by the Lake

After breakfast, depart Karatu and travel toward Lake Eyasi.
The route descends through farming areas, dry woodland and small rural communities into the Eyasi Basin.
Lake Eyasi is a shallow seasonal soda lake surrounded by escarpments, bushland and agricultural settlements.
Meet a local cultural guide who will help facilitate respectful communication and explain the area’s social and environmental context.
Visit a Datoga family or community.
The Datoga are traditionally pastoralists and are known in the Lake Eyasi region for their metalworking skills.
Depending on the household’s activities, guests may observe traditional blacksmiths producing:

- Tools
- Household objects
The metal may be heated over a charcoal fire and shaped using simple hand tools.

Hadzabe Cultural Experience and Karatu
Hadzabe Cultural Experience • Traditional Bush Walk • Return to Karatu

Wake before sunrise and meet your local guide for an early morning Hadzabe experience.
The Hadzabe are among East Africa’s remaining hunter-gatherer communities. Their traditional livelihood includes hunting, gathering plants, collecting honey and using detailed knowledge of the surrounding environment.
Depending on the community’s plans, guests may accompany Hadzabe men on a bush walk or hunting excursion.
The activity cannot be scheduled with precision. The group may walk for a short period or spend several hours searching for tracks and signs of wildlife.
A successful hunt is never guaranteed.
Guests may learn about:
- Traditional bows and arrows
- Tracking techniques
- Fire-making methods
- Wild foods
- Medicinal plants
- Honey gathering
- Social organization
- The Hadzane language
- Seasonal movement and resource use
Depending on the day, community members may also be gathering tubers, berries, fruit or other foods.
The experience should be viewed as an opportunity to learn rather than as entertainment.
After the visit, return to the accommodation for a late breakfast or enjoy a picnic meal.
Later, travel back to Karatu.
Spend the afternoon relaxing at your accommodation or participate in an optional coffee, village or nature activity.
Dinner and overnight in Karatu.
Ngorongoro Crater Safari
Ngorongoro Crater Safari • Explore the Crater Floor • Return to the Highlands

Depart early after breakfast and travel into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Continue toward the crater rim and stop at a viewpoint when visibility permits.
Descend approximately 600 metres to the crater floor for an extended private game drive.
Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and contains one of Africa’s greatest concentrations of large mammals.
The crater’s grasslands, forest, freshwater springs, wetlands and alkaline lake support:
- Lions
- Elephants
- Buffaloes
- Zebras
- Wildebeest
- Hippos
- Spotted hyenas
- Jackals
- Several antelope species
The crater is also among Tanzania’s better places to search for the endangered black rhinoceros, although sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Explore the open plains, Lerai Forest, marshes and the shores of Lake Magadi.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated location before continuing the safari.
In the afternoon, ascend the crater wall and return to your accommodation in Karatu or the Ngorongoro Highlands.
Ngorongoro Highlands to Central Serengeti

The route passes volcanic landscapes, broad plains and traditional Maasai grazing areas.
An optional visit to Olduvai Gorge Museum may be arranged for guests interested in archaeology, geology and early human history.
Continue toward Serengeti as the highland scenery opens into expansive grasslands.
Enter Serengeti National Park and begin an en-route game drive toward the central region.
Central Serengeti provides strong year-round wildlife viewing because of the permanent water sources around the Seronera River.
Search for:
- Lions around granite kopjes
- Leopards in riverine trees
- Cheetahs on open plains
- Elephants moving through woodland
- Giraffes and buffaloes
- Spotted hyenas and jackals

Full-Day Central Serengeti Safari
Central Serengeti Exploration • Big Cats & Wildlife • Overnight at Camp

Spend a complete day exploring Central Serengeti.

The Seronera region contains a combination of river valleys, acacia woodland, open grassland and granite kopjes.
These habitats support lions, leopards, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and numerous plains animals.
Leopards may rest in trees along the Seronera River, while lions frequently use kopjes as observation points and shaded resting areas.
Cheetahs prefer open terrain where they can scan for gazelles.
Your guide will adapt the day’s route according to current wildlife reports, seasonal conditions and your interests.
Choose between:
- A full-day safari with picnic lunch
- Separate morning and afternoon game drives
- A flexible schedule with time to relax at camp
Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Northern Serengeti Migration Safari

The additional day allows your guide to explore areas not covered previously and respond to recent wildlife activity.
The program may include:
- Open plains
- River valleys
- Acacia woodland
- Seasonal watercourses
- Granite outcrops
- Quieter sections beyond the busiest central routes
Lions may be observed resting, interacting with pride members or patrolling territories.
Leopards are often associated with riverine woodland, while cheetahs use the open plains to watch for prey.
Spotted hyenas, jackals and vultures may gather near predator territories and recent kills.
Depending on the season, migration herds may also pass through the central region. However, resident wildlife makes Central Serengeti rewarding throughout the year.
Guests interested in photography may spend extended time at selected sightings, while families may prefer a varied program with a midday break.
Return to your accommodation for your final evening in Serengeti.
